Wardrobe Guide
The most flattering portraits tend to follow these guidelines:
While we previously were known for only allowing familes in-studio with formal attire, that is not the “rule” - but we do suggest dressing your best, maybe think about how you would want to look at your best friend’s wedding.
Something more casual can be dressed up with a simple jacket and your favorite jewlery
Be mindful that your feet/shoes will show in your portraits, so definitely plan accordingly
We have never had anyone complain they dressed too nice for their portraits, but weekly we have people come in to order their artwork only to realize how beautiful their portraits came out and how much they love them, but are upset they did not dress better. So, we suggest dressing up and not down for your luxury portrait session.
Some families will opt for traditional clothing options, or even a blend of western and traditional
These are the 4 things to avoid if you want the best possible/timeless portrait:
Avoid T-shirts
Avoid Denim with holes
Avoid Shorts
Avoid large logos/prints on clothing
This is your portrait, we’ll create it with you wearing whatever you are comfortable in - but we want to make sure in the end you are thrilled with the results.
While patterns can be fun, solid jewel toned colors play best & allow attention to be drawn to what’s most important:
the face and eyes.
Since the human eye is drawn to the brightest part of a portrait, we suggest avoiding wearing white as a primary piece of wardrobe.
We have a dressing room you can get dressed in.
Due to time constraints, we ask you choose your favorite outfit - wardrobe changes are not permitted for most session types. And we ask that you come with hair/makeup complete.
